The Early Learning Success Initiative

The Early Learning Foundation is working with elementary schools interested in becoming model sites of early learning success.  Starting with schools that have a commitment to early learning success, along with teacher-leaders and administrative support needed to become a model site, we enter into a long-term (3 to 5 year) commitment to develop schools where outrageous learning success is possible for practically every student.

Using a comprehensive model of early learning success, we help schools build a school environment which includes these beliefs.

  • We will help every possible child experience early learning success.
  • A culture of collaboration is needed to help classroom teachers and support staff work at the highest levels of effectiveness.
  • We will carefully assess student progress to determine instructional needs and instructional match.
  • We will deliver essential instruction at the student’s correct level of challenge.
  • Students learn better in a safe, connected classroom culture.

Over time, these model sites develop the components of this comprehensive model.

Over the past three years, Wayne RESA has supported the development of model sites of early learning success in selected Wayne County districts.  At this time, five sites are prepared to receive visitors and share the work they have been doing to help more children build a solid foundation of early learning success.

The Early Learning Success Initiative is based on a comprehensive model of support to teachers and students, and these five sites continue to work on implementation of the complete model.  At this time, they are willing to schedule visitations to allow other Wayne RESA districts to observe and learn about the following:

These schools can be contacted directly, and asked to schedule visits.  They offer this service out of their commitment to the importance of early learning success for every possible child.  They do not receive extra funding or support for this service, so please understand that visits must be scheduled on dates they have planned to be available. Please be respectful of the limits of their time, as they still have full time jobs as teachers and principals!
